Like many of us, Emily Roberts saw some big plans for slither away. She has nearly animals—mostly snakes, but also lizards, turtles, and Rex, an American alligator. Roberts launched Snake Discovery from her home in the summer of To build up business, she began advertising and set up a YouTube channel. It quickly grew demand for in-person demonstrations featuring a 7-foot-long boa constrictor named Doug. When the coronavirus struck, she had to cancel all educational programs, totaling over events scheduled throughout the summer of To date, the channel has surpassed 2 million subscribers, and its videos have netted almost million views.

Our educational zoo features over 75 exhibits of reptiles, amphibians, and invertebrates for you to learn about and see up close! Crawl through the alligator tunnel, touch a snake, use flashlights to find critters in our Invert Cave, and more! Our hands-on environment is welcome to all ages. No appointment is necessary; just come on over and explore! Guided tours are available at no additional cost on Sundays-Fridays at 12pm, 2pm, and 5pm and Saturday at 12pm, 2pm, 4pm, and 6pm. Join a tour given by a zookeeper to learn about reptiles, touch several species, and maybe even get your hand licked by a tegu! Emily and Ed are available to meet fans from pm Saturdays — Sundays. This may change due to travel, so keep an eye on the Facebook page for updates. We fully support rescuing reptiles and amphibians in need, and thanks to our Adoption Island program we can take in surrenders and find them wonderful homes!
