Part of the Kundalini Yoga path includes an invitation to request and receive a spiritual name. Many people use their names when teaching or in meditation, and others legally adopt the new name. One of the greatest benefits of using a spiritual name is the effect that occurs physically, when you or others speak it.

The 3HO movement is known for including some practices found in certain traditions such as meditation, vegetarianism and yoga, particularly Kundalini yoga. Despite 3HO claiming to practice Sikh teachings and values, the organisation is largely condemned by the wider Sikh community , with some going as far to refer it as a cult.
