Crime season 2 is finally here, which is great news because it's been nearly years since we last saw Dougray Scott playing troubled detective DI Ray Lennox. Based on Irvine Welsh's novel and adapted for the screen by the award-winning author, the six-part "psychological, procedural thriller" looks set to take the story into intriguing new territory. Scott's performance in the first series recently landed him an International Emmy nomination for Best Performance by an Actor and he'll be leading a star-studded cast of British talent, including Joanna Vanderham and John Simm, in this follow-up, crime tv series cast.

He is fuelled by a secret from his childhood that "touched his soul" and as the investigation progresses, Lennox is forced to "look deep inside himself, a spiral from which he may not emerge". The six-part series is based on Irvine Welsh's novel of the same name, which is the sequel to his book Glue. I haven't seen people represented in that way; I haven't seen coppers represented in that way. I've never seen anything else that actually even looks like it, the way it's shot. Crime is a six-part drama based on the novel of the same name by Trainspotting author Irvine Welsh, who also adapted his work for the screen. The story follows Dougray Scott as lead detective and troubled addict DI Ray Lennox, who is looking into the disappearance of a year-old girl. Scott described Welsh's work as "brutal, traumatising, upsetting and deplorable in every sense of the word, but at the same time there's wonderful tenderness within the characters that Irvine just produces", adding: "He has this incredible ability to emotionalise a subject like this so that it's accessible. Dougray Scott Mission: Impossible 2 leads the cast as DI Lennox, who is leading the investigation into the missing schoolgirl - and must confront the "demons" that previously consumed his life. When year-old Britney Hamil is kidnapped from an Edinburgh street, DI Lennox pushes himself to "breaking point" to locate her.
