Every time I tried this, it made me a permanent enemy of the BoS, but I was wondering, what happens if you kill Maxson and then use console commands to join again? Has anyone tried this? Showing 1 - 8 of 8 comments. As far as I know, they don't have a specific handling for what you're suggesting. If you kill Maxson and somehow artificially join again, the game will continue to assume Maxson is in charge. There was apparently once a plan to have an option for doing this challenging Maxson, defeating him, and taking his place , but this content was not included in the final release. You'd need mods to change that. There is a mod for taking over and keeping Danse, Think it was called the Danse Dilemma. Think there are several mods that give us other options on the matter from putting someone else in charge to taking charge ourselves just search the nexus for alternate endings etc.

He reveals that the network hack of the Institute 's mainframe yielded indisputable proof Danse is not human, but is actually a missing synth unit with the designation M this was achieved through DNA analysis of those reported missing from the Institute, and cross-checking that against all members of the Brotherhood of Steel, as each member's DNA is already conveniently on file in Proctor Quinlan 's records. The Sole Survivor is then given a choice of medium-difficulty persuasion checks to convince Maxson they did not know Danse's true nature. Alternatively, they can suggest that Danse himself may not have known he was a synth. This is confirmed when the Sole Survivor confronts Danse and asks him why he had not confided in them, and is told that Danse only found out his real life story at the same time as the rest of the Brotherhood.
