Ella is 13 years old and was living her everyday life when she got the devastating news that she has been diagnosed with Acute lymphoblastic leukaemia. Ella is in her first year of high school and had her whole life ahead of her and whilst this still may be true she now has the biggest battle to fight.

Ella has White-Sutton syndrome, which is a rare neurodevelopmental disorder, this along with Epilepsy, means it takes two people to lift her safely; Ella also requires bigger and better wheel chairs, sensory equipment, and mobility Aids. White-Sutton syndrome is characterized by a wide spectrum of cognitive dysfunctions and developmental delays. Ella was born in September , it was known to her parents in pregnancy there may be complications and when she was born she spent the first month of her life in special care unable to feed at all and was referred for various genetic testing. She then began to have severe seizures and was diagnosed with Epilepsy. The genetic test findings came back in diagnosing her with White-Sutton syndrome. Her network around her are all there to support the family. When visiting hospital appointments, emergency treatment her sister is on endless visits to neighbours, family, and kindly friends we want to make sure the family are able to provide a better lifestyle for Ella, and all the family. The funds we desperately need are to adapt their house for Ella to be lifted safely, we would like to buy the equipment, mobility aids needed to make her life easier both for her parents and 8 year old sister, and give Ella the best quality of life we think she deserves. Donation protected. Ella is a 20 year old final year college student in University of Galway. She lives in Ballinderreen, Co. Galway with us, her two younger sisters, Sophie, Hannah and of course our two golden retrievers, Murphy and Enzo! After complaining of headaches since Christmas and visits to the GP and Emergency Room she was given a CT scan on the 29th January, at this stage she was reporting nausea and imbalance when walking, within an hour she was told that the CT scan had revealed a large tumour on the base of her brain. Her world fell apart and our hearts were completely shattered. She was admitted to the excellent care of the staff in AMU in GUH and was immediately listed for surgery and a few days later was transferred to Beaumont Hospital in Dublin. The team of Neurosurgeons removed the tumour in a grueling 5 hour operation.

For a multitude of reasons, the past two months have been extremely challenging, and for a long time we have been unsure of what the future looks like for Ella, and unsure what to tell you as a result. What we can now say, is that Ella has been discharged from the hospital, and finally in her home setting we are able to see how far she has come. She is walking without aids, living independently, and even talking about going back to work! She still has a long journey ahead of her, however in contrast to where she was exactly three months ago at the time of writing this update, it feels like nothing will stop her. I wanted to take the opportunity to express to you all how grateful we are for your support, to each and every person who donated, shared, wrote messages of love and hope, and reached out in kindness.
