She didn't return.

Mirai has finally confessed her feelings for Kanbara during the final moments of her time inside the alternate dimension. This ultimately defeats the entire purpose of why Mirai had to risk her life in the first place. She basically "died" for absolutely no reason. So basically, we're right back where we started, episode one. How was she brought back? It all seemed too perfect in the end, without a particular reason explaining why. Overall though, this was an amazing anime.

At some point, I think you just have to sit back and enjoy the show without asking too many questions. Kyoukai no Kanata was that type of show for me; especially in the case of this episode. If I spend too much time wondering why and how, then that just takes away from the entertainment value that the show is providing. This finale was a good example of just taking in all the pretty animation and sweet commentary in the epilogue. These points being the animation and the beautiful use of visual and audio stimuli. The beginning was a great example of something that built up a lot of mystery and anticipation, without sacrificing all the small details and character development between Mirai and Akihito. However, as more problems occurred and Izumi and Miroku were integrated further into the story, they had their own subplot that distracted a lot from the main cast.

You see her and the Beyond The Boundary disappear into the other dimension so it only makes sense if one returned the other would also return naturally because of it. There are 3 probable explanation I can think on why the ring vanished: 1 The ring disappeared because it returned to its owner by default, which is Mirai. Akihito answers that nothing has. From here on, just the same as the way human emotions seep out from people and create dreamshades, Akihito's sadness about Mirai and love for her and possibly also her longing for him and love for him caused her to be able to materialize again and exist in the physical plane. She basically "died" for absolutely no reason. This was already mentioned in the anime. Dec 20, PM. As she grabs some things from her apartment she receives a phone call from Akihito saying that he would like to meet up, and she realizes that the one at the door is a fake. In my own words, the most feasible explanation on the ending is that Mirai was "artificially" reconstructed or revived by Kanbara's Kyoukai no Kanata due to his feeling and her feeling reaching each other. It may be hard to agree at first, but then when you rewatch it over again, there's nothing concrete to support how Mirai survives that battle. However she leaves behind her ring. But even though Mirai is a spirit and has left her physical side behind she still had her ring. Read quote bellow to understand it more. She tells him that she would like to talk outside.

Mirai Kuriyama is the sole survivor of a clan of Spirit World warriors with the power to employ their blood as weapons. As such, Mirai is tasked with hunting down and killing "youmu"—creatures said to be the manifestation of negative human emotions. One day, while deep in thought on the school roof, Mirai comes across Akihito Kanbara, a rare half-breed of youmu in human form.

You're gonna have to wait till S2 for KyoAn to give you the answers. Check the complete collection here XD Alrighty! The ending was confusing. Beyond the Boundary Stone is a split spirit 2. In a flashback her mother reminds her that the reason they are in this world is to kill Beyond the Boundary. For example the dark shadow infected Sakura Inami and Beyond the Boundary infected both main characters Now that everyone's caught up I can explain what happened. Due to the sacrifice however would make it tricky because she didn't really die if you think about the scene. Dec 24, AM. If you want an irrefutable right explanation than read the novel and spoil the what happened to me please xD, since this won't have a second season for sure. Meanwhile Hiroomi runs into Ayaka who is also on the search for Izumi, bringing up the question of the two eldest Nases now set on killing each other. Dec 25, PM. It may be hard to agree at first, but then when you rewatch it over again, there's nothing concrete to support how Mirai survives that battle. I'm just trying to imagine how amazing the ending would have been if it basically revealed that it was all his imagination.
