RDCB - Foundations of Reading Hours: 3 This course is designed for graduate students in the emergency permit or alternative certification program seeking initial teacher certification. The focus is on the reading process and the factors that condition its development. The importance of reading in school and in life serves as a background for critical evaluation of the methods and materials of reading instruction. Special consideration is given to the essential components of research-based programs and the features of classrooms that support effective beginning reading instruction.

Tamu courses

This course will be a mini art school squeezed into an hour a week. We will have regular weekly homework assignments, and use most of class time to critique constructively. I will use my experience from my own art school days to give an impression of what it was like. We will have assignments that are based on real art school assignments that I had. Mediums will include drawing, sculpture, painting, jewelry making, and digital art, photography and short film. In this course we will adapt the Hullabaloo infrastructure to enrich learning within the engineering context. This will be done by watching various sports documentaries that revolve around these topics outside of class followed by in-class discussions and activities. The main themes we will discuss throughout the F1RST class during the freshmen year is recognizing and building your team of support on the Galveston campus. As these are first generation college students, we will focus on impostor syndrome, learning styles, difference between high school and college, finding your support and utilizing the campus resources available for academic and social success. This course will give students the opportunity to learn how to recreationally fish and connect to local environments and natural resources. At the end of this course students will have the confidence to fish on their own and with fellow Aggies.

The overview of the human body; scientific fundamentals of stress, fitness, tamu courses, disease and drug use; interdisciplinary focus on wellness and longevity; integrated physical activity experiences centering on principles and applications of the scientific basis of conditioning. The Transfer Seminar course will provide a welcoming and affirming environment for transfer and non-traditional students as they transition to life at the TAMU-Galveston campus.
