London Fashion Week is a city-wide celebration of individualism, openness and diversity. London Fashion Week and London Fashion Week Festival aim to explore and bring together the worlds of fashion, art, music and tech by hosting an exciting mix of events, presentations and collaborations throughout February. This season, there are many ways the public can get involved, from digital engagement, to events across the city. All the below activities and events are open to the public. The event allows consumers to experience the atmosphere of London Fashion Week in its official venue and gain insight into the fashion industry while giving designer brands the opportunity to meet and build direct relationships with new customers. In addition, the London Fashion Week Festival talk series will see an exciting schedule focusing around fashion, tech and lifestyle. The Sheer Luxe series will present fashion expert Trinny Woodall in conversation and a panel discussion of fashion influencers on making trends wearable and additionally River Island will host a series of curated talks. In February , the University of Westminster will become the first undergraduate course in the world to show their graduate collections on the official London Fashion Week Schedule. For the last year Course Director, Andrew Groves has led this radical rethink of how fashion education is delivered and have restructured the course to enable this innovation to take place. This development means that for the final two years of their study, Westminster students are working in complete synchronicity with the international fashion calendar. We saw this as an inevitable development allowing us to build on our world-class internship programme. After the second year of the BA Fashion Design course, our students work for two seasons with leading international fashion houses and designers, allowing them to experience first-hand two complete cycles of the fashion calendar. For those that want to set up their own design businesses, this will also mean working with factories, supported by the course to allow them to make the transition from graduate to designer as easy as possible.
