Megatron also known as D and Galvatron in the 4th movie is the leader of the Decepticons and the main antagonist of Transformers , the secondary antagonist of Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen and Transformers: Dark of the Moon, one of the three main antagonists of Transformers: Age of Extinction alongside Lockdown and Harold Attinger , and one of the two main antagonists alongside Quintessa of Transformers: The Last Knight. He is the archenemy of the Autobot leader, Optimus Prime and widely considered as one of the strongest Decepticons. Megatron grew up to become Lord High Protector of Cybertron while his adopted brother, Optimus became the head scientist of the Cybertronian scientific division. Eventually, Megatron came across The Fallen , who corrupted him and convinced him that the AllSpark should be his. Megatron and his followers attempted to seize it, but were stopped by Optimus and his Autobots, and the Cybertronian War began.

When Megatron grew corrupted by his power, Orion would utilize his teachings against him as Optimus Prime. In most incarnations, Megatron would eventually meet his demise at Optimus' hands, only to later be resurrected as Galvatron. Megatron has become one of the franchise's most iconic characters and a widely recognized villain in popular culture.
