After tooth extraction, it is important for a blood clot to form to stop the bleeding and begin the healing process. Bite on a gauze pad for minutes immediately after the extraction. If the bleeding or oozing persists, place another gauze pad and bite firmly for an additional 30 minutes. You may have to do this a couple of times. Avoid rinsing your mouth vigorously, sucking on straws, smoking, drinking alcohol for at least hours. Start brushing your teeth the day following the extractions to maintain good oral hygiene, which facilitates a good healing environment. Limit vigorous exercise for the next 72 hours, as this increases blood pressure and may cause bleeding from the extraction site. After the tooth is extracted you may feel some pain and experience some swelling. Please use the ice pack provided in your take home bag and apply it to the area, 20 mins on, 20 mins off. The swelling usually gets worse in the first 48 hours before it subsides.

Due to the fact that ROMS provides many types of oral surgery services, some circumstances may lengthen the time allotted for a procedure. Emergency cases may also arise and cause delays. Due to the fact that we see most of our patients on an appointment basis, we ask that you respect your appointment time so that patients scheduled after you can be seen on time. If you are more than 15 minutes late for your appointment, your appointment may have to be re-scheduled to minimize inconvenience to other patients. If we are unable to reach you in a timely fashion your appointment might be given to another patient who needs to be seen.
