The story is a lot more important in this game, and there are a ton of dialogue scenes and actual characters that you interact with The story has you traveling back and forth in time , gathering tools to take on Eggman. The gameplay is the most interesting part of this game. Felipe decided to meld the Sonic formula with the Metroidvania formula , with mixed results. On the one hand, it gives a sense of exploration that no other Sonic game has to this day. The world opens up more and more as you acquire new exploration abilities. Unfortunately, some of the new abilities are extremely pointless outside of a niche use and the game attempting to design levels around abilities can lead to some extremely tedious platforming. If you want to experience Sonic melded with a different genre altogether, or if you're just a Sonic fan who wants to experience something different, then you should give Sonic: Chrono Adventure a shot. Even though it has some mixed results, it's still a very interesting experience overall.
