In the Star Citizen universe, the Loaner Matrix for provides players with temporary replacement ships when their pledged ships are not yet available in the game. This matrix ensures that players can continue to enjoy the full experience of Star Citizen while they wait for their desired ships to be implemented. The Loaner Matrix for includes several loaner ships for different pledge categories. For example, players who have pledged for large capital ships like the Idris or Javelin will receive temporary replacements such as the Hammerhead or Polaris to use in the meantime. These loaner ships allow players to participate in larger-scale gameplay, such as fleet battles or multicrew interactions, even if their pledged ships are still being developed. Similarly, players who have pledged for smaller ships like the Origin i or the Anvil Carrack will receive loaner ships like the Constellation Andromeda or the Aegis Reclaimer. These loaner ships provide similar gameplay functionalities and allow players to explore the vastness of the Star Citizen universe while they eagerly await the release of their desired ships. The Loaner Matrix is regularly updated by the developers to reflect the progress of ship development and ensure that players have access to suitable replacements. This ensures that players can continue to engage in various activities and contribute to the evolving universe of Star Citizen, even if their pledged ships are not yet flyable. Overall, the Loaner Matrix for in Star Citizen plays a crucial role in keeping players engaged and satisfied during the development process. Loaner ships were introduced for players to be able to play in the PU and Arena Commander if they have purchased a ship that is not flight ready yet. Loaner ships tend to be as close as possible to the "best case substitute" of the ship and is not necessarily based on size or price. Some ships have two loaners because the most similar loaner ship may not be usable in Arena Commander. On the Port Olisar and Grim Hex ship decks you will see a Constellation Andromeda and a P Merlin in the ship selection screen as replacements for any non flight ready ships that you own that are multi crew. If you own a concept ship that is not yet flight ready, or if you own a concept ship that is unable to be used in Arena commander you will have a Hornet F7C available to use as a loaner also now known as a "trainer".
Backers who own ships not available in the PU Persistent Universe will receive respective loaner ships until those ship become "Flight Ready. Although pretty much the only major gameplay feature to be added, lots of enhancements to performance and the other features make for a much more enjoyable experience. Also the better frames in PTU have somewhat made it to the live servers, which makes a difference from previous patches where performance at live was worse. If you never purchased an Aurora MR you might have it in the Persistent Universe as a loaner to another ship. For example, all Mustang Alpha owners have temporarily been given an Aurora MR loaner due to the current technical issues making the Mustang Alpha almost unusable in the Persistent Universe. Please note, our loaner matrix list may be out of date.
