About a month ago a member of this Amino called Enma Ai posted a theory concerning Jack's birth name and I can't figure out how to link it. Help I suck. In their post, they explained how Jack is not actually our favorite Samurai's real name though people would figure that a Japanese man, the emperor's son no less [that feel when you and a bunch of other people forget that Jack is technically a prince too], from the Edo period wouldn't have a blatantly White and modern name and that in the second episode it's revealed that "Jack" is actually slang used in the future that is basically the equivalent of "dude" or "bro" and that the samurai adopted it after a few guys refered to him as such possibly to more easily hide his identity, but I digress.
