Original Poster. Search My Stuff What's New 3 12 24 OP Posts Only. Its still overheating almost immediately and no hot air from the heater. These engines seem to have known over heating issues and i suspect that the rad is partly at fault as it was weeping from the coolant low sensor at the bottom of the rad, but that doesnt explain the rapid overheating, the lack of warm air from the heater and the fact that the top hose doesnt seem to be full. I think it could be a thermostat or water pump issue. Any ideas? E38Ross 34, posts months. How long from stone cold is it before the engine starts over heating? Try removing the thermostat as a test. A failed head gasket doesn't always manifest itself as water in the oil, overheating can be a sympton. A sniffer test will prove. These engines are easy to bleed. Just use the screw on the tank at the end of the rad. As has been mentioned, DON'T let the car overheat or you could reduce the engine to scrap.

M30 and M20 series 6 cylinder require bleeding. Was it not bled properly which should be now, no low coolant e36 overheating OBC? I ran without the mechanical fan for a long time - years.

Assuming that you have not tracked the car, and it has been maintained properly and not overheated, the M50 is a durable motor and you generally do not see headgasket failure.
